The history of the Irish Potato Candy:

Irish potato candy is a traditional Philadelphian candy originated sometime in the late 19th or early 20th century. Despite its name, it is not from Ireland, and does not usually contain any potato. The candies have a coconut cream inside (generally made from shredded coconut, confectioner's sugar, vanilla, and cream cheese) and are rolled in cinnamon on the outside, resulting in an appearance of small potatoes.

The Irish Potato Candy is a delightful treat that has a rich history. While it may not have originated in Ireland, it has become a beloved part of Irish-American culture and a sweet way to celebrate St. Patrick's Day.
